MADRID--Repsol SA said Wednesday it would set aside EUR2.9 billion, or $3.15 billion, to compensate for the decline in oil prices, swinging the Spanish oil major to a loss in 2015.

Repsol said in a regulatory filing that the provisions would trigger a EUR1.2 billion loss in 2015. If it weren't for the write-down, Repsol would have posted a EUR1.85 billion profit last year, an 8% increase from 2014, the company said.
